HEALING PRAYER MINISTRY

"Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness." Matthew 9:35

OVERVIEW OF HEALING PRAYER MINISTRY

Healing prayer is perhaps best summarized in the phrase: “Christian healing is Jesus Christ meeting a person at his/her point of greatest need.” Jesus does the healing, not us. Those praying are channels of God’s healing power and love. The “Gift of Healing” is given to those for whom we pray, not to those who do the praying.

In the Christian tradition, healing involves the well-being of the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. Often spiritual and emotional healing is needed before physical healing can take place. In praying for healing we are praying for wholeness, following Jesus who said: “As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons.” (Matt. 10:7-8).

HEALING PRAYER MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Schedule a Healing Prayer Appointment

A healing prayer appointment is the core way that we offer healing prayer. These appointments take approximately 1 hour, and can be scheduled with members of our healing prayer team for a convenient time. Healing prayer appointments always involve two members of the healing prayer team. You are welcome to request a specific gender of healing prayer minister to be present for your appointment. To schedule a healing prayer appointment, please contact: Christine DeJong (jchristinedejong@gmail.com).

Prayers for Healing and Wholeness

On the first Sunday of each month, we offer prayers for healing and wholeness during our regular Sunday service. On these Sundays, anointing with oil is available during communion, and we offer abbreviated opportunities for healing prayer following the service.

Soaking Prayer

Our healing prayer team is excited to offer a monthly evening of soaking prayer beginning on May 18th from 6:30-8pm at the church. Everyone is welcome. And you are welcome to come and go as needed during the evenings. Soaking prayer is a time for coming into the Presence of God in a posture of receiving, allowing Him to minister to you directly in body, mind, and spirit. It involves sitting or lying in stillness, relaxed and inwardly turning toward Jesus. Gently worship music in the background helps to focus on God and experience His presence. Soaking prayer is a time to rest with Jesus. When you arrive there will be cards available if you’d like to write down any prayer requests. Our prayer team will be present to pray silently for you as you rest. This is a time set apart for you to simply rest in Jesus’ Presence. The purpose of soaking prayer is to give God an opportunity to minister to you directly. God may desire to bring healing on a physical, emotional, or spiritual level. God may desire to simply bring peace and refreshing to you. Essentially it’s a time for you to rest and commune with God, allowing God to accomplish God’s purpose for that time. God knows exactly what you need at any given moment. In this non-stop world we live in, soaking prayer is a beautiful time to release what you’re holding and know Jesus is with you to take it.

Healing Eucharist Service

On the first and third Wednesday of each month, All Souls Cville holds a special Healing Eucharist: a quiet, profound service that offers a mid-week respite for worshipers. All are invited to Holy Communion and, if desired, a laying-on of hands and anointing with oil for healing, for  themselves or for others. The liturgy begins at 12:15 and concludes by 12:45. Our sanctuary is open for prayer and quiet reflection 15 minutes before and after the service.
